Before becoming a formal classroom teacher six years ago, Cheyenne spent five years as a Utah state-certified environmental educator at the Ogden Nature Center, and a year as an elementary Science Specialist. She is a singer-songwriter with a great love of nature, community and travel, who has created and facilitated workshops for adults, teens and children alike, as well as week-long hands-on science camps. Her background experience and passions lend themselves to great comfort with the chaos of hands-on, inquiry-based, cross-curricular, technology-intensive learning. Cheyenne will use anything from music to airplanes, costumes to the local river ecosystem, from lip balm to cell phones to hula hoops, to create a deliberate learning community, inspire students in the sciences and continually innovate as an educator. Cheyenne runs the “Green Dragons” Conservation Club at DaVinci Academy of Science and the Arts, a Utah Green School.
