Collaboration Drives Scaled Freight Transportation Electrification

March 16, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Gain insight into the nation’s largest and most cutting-edge heavy-duty zero emission truck projects, led by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD)—the regulatory agency responsible for improving air quality for the 17 million residents in the counties of Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and Orange County. By funding early stage prototype and pilot demonstration projects, South Coast AQMD has helped to pave the way for the near-term commercialization of zero emission truck technologies.

Hear directly from the world’s largest truck manufacturers about critical lessons learned and major milestones achieved during these cutting-edge projects, including:

  • Daimler Trucks North America’s (DTNA’s) Freightliner Electric Innovation Fleet project, a demonstration of 30 pre-commercial heavy-duty battery electric Freightliner trucks with two top fleets, NFI and Penske. Project agency partners include Port of Los Angeles, Port of Long Beach, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
  • DTNA’s Customer Experience (CX) Fleet project, where eight pre-commercial heavy-duty battery electric trucks are being rotated through more than a dozen leading fleets on short term pilot demonstrations. Project agency partners include South Coast AQMD and Bay Area Air Quality Management District.
  • Volvo LIGHTS, a collaboration between Volvo Trucks North America, South Coast AQMD, and 13 other public and private stakeholders, to design and implement a blueprint for the full ecosystem needed to support widescale freight electrification.
